My daughter is going to be two in August, and ive heard from alot of people that potty training girls is much easier then boys, im hoping this is true because potty training my son was hell ! he didint get the concept and now im back to have the "wetting the bed" kind of nights with him ( but thats a whole other post )
So recently genesis has been saying "pee pee mommy" so i take her and see if she does anything and to my surprise SUCCESS ! she has and it makes me that much more eager for potty training especially since diapers now a days are more expensive then dam tampons ! so anyways, this morning she wakes me up and says mommy pee pee, so i take her pull down her pullup and she goes ! and im excited as hell, you have no idea because just the thought of having both my kids potty trained by the end of this year excites the hell out of me. Not to mention that its going to get just as expensive to buy those things that go on the mattress for the bed wetter that my son has become recently.
Why is it that little girls like to be naked all the time, or is it just my daughter? she loves to take off her pullup and just hang out naked. im scared of my future sometimes.
My ideas for the summer time is basically leaving her without any pull ups when i take her to the park or somewhere, i mean of course it may be messy but maybe it will be her way of telling me easily because if i know my daughter, she wont want to stay wet. she doesnt like the feeling of being wet so this could work in my advantage.
My best tips for potty training a child in general would be the following, it worked for me so hopefully it works for you!
Potty Training Tips that worked for me
- As soon as your child wakes up, take them to the potty and sit them down ( if you have a boy just have him stand there) and just show them that this is where they should go in the middle of the night or in the morning ( without waking up mommy or daddy lol ) get them into the routine
- Ask them if they have to use the potty every 30 minutes or so, or even after everytime they have a drink. i know you might be saying " i dont have the time to ask every 30 minutes but think of it this way, its like changing a diaper. you have to do it anyways so might as well.
- make potty time fun time, bring an ipad ( it works for mine ) and find either a fun potty or a character seat cover for the kids, one of his favorite superhero's or her favorite princess.
- In the summer time its best to keep all pullup's off and go commando! i know it can get messy sometimes so make sure to pack extra pants and extra wipes.
- start the potty song ( follow link for those parents that have no idea which potty song to go with, ELMO POTTY SONG )
GOOD LUCK MOMMY'S AND DADDY'S !
Sincerely,
A tired Mom.
